Mary Rose celebrates £21 million from Heritage Lottery Fund
It's great news for the Historic Dockyard and Portsmouth today as the Heritage Lottery Fund announces that it has earmarked a £21 million grant to be awarded to the Mary Rose Trust.
This major grant is to complete the conservation of the Mary Rose and build a permanent museum in the Historic Dockyard to house the hull and her artefacts. Michael Aiken, Chairman of the Trust, expressed his delight with the news. He said "The HLF have yet again displayed their commitment to ensuring the nation's core heritage is saved for posterity".
The £300M Ventura- a new P&O superliner cruiseship taking its maiden voyage in April - will become the UK's largest passenger cruise ship with a difference. It
will boast £1 million of from the UK's top artists. Tempest Radford Art Consultancy selected WrightGeorge to participate for their unique style of imagery and interpretation of place. The Spinanker Tower was amongst the venues selected for photography for the prestigious new ship.

Visit Portsmouth and find plenty to do all year. The Historic Dockyard - including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, the Mary Rose, the Royal Naval Museum and Action Stations is open every day from 10am to 5pm (from 11am on New Year's Day). Enjoy the stunning view from the Spinnaker Tower, open every day 10am to 6pm (10pm on Saturdays). The Magic of Masks and Puppets
Come along to Portsmouth's City Museum and Records Office, to see this colourful and fun-filled exhibition from the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre. Bringing together a fascinating selection of puppets and masks from around the world, its something that's sure to interest!
