Poole Regatta
The success of earlier Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole Keelboat Regattas has led us to believe that the formula for the event meets the approval of most, if not all, competitors.Past success is partially due to a number of classes making use of the event to hold their local, Southern, National or European Championships within the Regatta. These championships are tailored to meet individual class requirements. In 2008 we have already had interest or firm commitment from the J24s, Sigma 33s and 38s, MOCRA, 2.4 metres and the ¼ tonners.
We are delighted that International Paints are continuing their very active and generous support. They are joined by Plastimo, who are adding their support, as well as very generous prizes.
In addition to the usual silver and glassware prizes there will be substantial vouchers for the winners, as well as to 'also-rans' chosen on an ad hoc basis each day. Everyone has a chance of winning a valuable prize to ease those expensive maintenance bills.
In 2008 there will be four Poole Bay starting lines, as well as one in-harbour for smaller yachts. Over the years Poole Bay has proved a very popular and fair racing area, requiring no local knowledge, thereby giving the visitor every chance against the locals.
On shore there will be full evening entertainment at Parkstone and Poole Yacht Clubs, with the final prizegiving at the Royal Motor Yacht Club.
